Nikki Boente
Seniors Nikki Boente and Megan Schlender are co-players of the week. Boente scored two goals in the regional championship against Marquette Catholic. Her season total of 36 set a new CHS single season record. Boente also finished with a school record 70 career goals. Her 18 career assists also ties her for fourth place in the school’s history.
Megan Schlender
Schlender accepted a difficult assignment in the regional championship and played with her normal tenacity. She finished the season with 8 goals and eight assists. Her 28 career goals place her in seventh place. Schlender’s 19 career assists place her in a tie for third.
Week 9
Maggie Walker
Junior Maggie Walker is this week’s offensive player of the week. Walker scored the game winning goal against Litchfield from 20 yards away. She has moved between the center midfielder and sweeper positions this year.
Nique Byots
Junior Nique Byots is this week’s defensive player of the week. Byots has continued to be a strong marking back for the Lady Cavaliers. In the regional semifinal against Litchfield she also earned an assist after playing a long diagonal pass down the field.
Week 8
Nikki Boente
Senior Nikki Boente is this week’s offensive player of the week. Boente scored three goals in this week’s three games as well as the team’s final penalty during the shootout with Marquette. She has scored a school record 66 goals throughout her career. Her 32 goals this season places her in fifth place for the entire St. Louis Post Dispatch circulation area.
Leah Kaegy
Sophomore Leah Kaegy is this week’s defensive player of the week. Keagy had a great week that included a tremendous effort against Alton Marquette. She was credited with 14 saves in the conference championship. In the game’s penalty kick shootout she was able to save two of the 5 shots while another attempt went wide. She is also tied for the area lead in shutouts with 13.
Week 7
Maddie Boente
This week’s offensive player of the week is freshman Maddie Boente. Boente scored the team’s game winning goal against Hillsboro. She also assisted on two of the goals in the team’s win against Jersey. Boente’s season totals are 6 goals and 3 assists.
Ellen Young
This week’s defensive player of the week is freshman Ellen Young. Young has provided valuable minutes as a sub for the team’s starting defenders. Young also plays in the midfield and scored her first varsity goal against Taylorville.
Week 6
Nikki Boente
Senior Nikki Boente had a busy week scoring 9 goals in four games and passing Jill Steward (2001-2005) on the career goals list. With five regular season games remaining this season, Boente has scored 59 career goals. Twenty five of those career goals have been scored this season.
Alexis Richie
As the team’s starting sweeper, junior Alexis Richie has filled a large role with the defense. Richie has the rare ability of being able to strike the ball long distances with accuracy. During the season the team’s defense has allowed just 9 goals in 17 games.
Week 5
Kimmy Dworzynski
Junior Kimmy Dworzynski is the offensive player of the week. Dworzynski scored the game winning goal in a narrow victory at Greenville. She has scored six goals and assisted on five others throughout the entire season. Two of her goals have been game winners.
Maggie Walker
Junior Maggie Walker is the defensive player of the week. Walker has scored two goals as a center midfielder, but last week she performed well in multiple games at the sweeper position. In the center of the field Walker does a great job shielding the ball and determining where the next pass should go.
Week 4
Megan Schlender
Senior Megan Schlender is the Carlinville High School girls’ soccer Offensive Player of the Week. Schlender scored goals in both matches this week against Metro East Lutheran and Highland. She has 6 goals and three assists from the center midfield position. Schlender currently is seventh on the all-time goals scored list and sixth in assists.
Taylor Schwab
Junior Taylor Schwab is the Defensive Player of the Week. Schwab plays mostly right midfielder, but her defensive effort stood out in both games during the week. She won multiple crosses and cleared them away from the goal. Schwab also continually fights for loose balls along the sideline.
Week 3
Kelli McCaherty
Senior Kelli McCaherty is this week’s offensive player of the week. McCaherty scored her first goal of the season against Greenville. Then in the championship game against Wood River she assisted on both of the opening goals for Carlinville.
Nique Byots
Junior Nique Byots is this week’s defensive player of the week. Byots was a part of the Cavies’ defense that only allowed one goal during the 320 minutes of tournament play. She played 294 minutes of a possible 320 during the tournament.
Week 2
Staci Lewis
Staci Lewis is this week’s offensive player of the week. Lewis scored a great goal against Staunton. As a center forward Lewis does a great job maintaining possession and setting up her fellow forwards out wide.
Leah Kaegy
Leah Kaegy is this week’s defensive player of the week. Keagy earned her third shutout of the season against Staunton. Keagy and the rest of the defense have only allowed 1 goal in a total of 320 minutes of play.
Week 1
Nikki Boente
Offensive Player of the Week—Senior Nikki Boente is this week’s offensive player of the week. Nikki scored four goals and assisted on another during the Spring Cup. Her 38 career goals move her into 4th place on the career scoring list at CHS.
Shelby Brown
Defensive Player of the Week—Junior Shelby Brown is this week’s defensive player of the week. Shelby started all three games at marking back during the Spring Cup. She was a strong part of a defense that allowed only one goal in a total of 240 minutes of play.
